Bolga Wave Product Story:
From Northern Ghana, we bring you these charismatic and unique Bolga baskets! These wavy, one-of-a-kind baskets are only from Bolgatanga and are known by most Ghanaian people as Bolga baskets!
The skilled artisans we have chosen to partner with are farmers and field workers by day. Alongside their main profession in agriculture, they are master weavers. Each one of our Bolga baskets are not simply woven by one artisan, but rather a multitude due to the process being done in stages. Farming is their main source of livelihood and each one of our orders takes about three weeks to complete.
By weaving, these artisans are able to earn a supplemental income to improve the lives of their families and communities. In order to offer the best products the weavers have a manager who manages the entire process. This allows the artisans to focus on their farming. The manager is the intermediary between the customer ordering and the artisans, they deal with the administrative pieces such as order details and ensuring that the orders meet with their standards.
The intricate detail and attention that the weavers display is top-notch, making each of these baskets truly a work of art! We are fortunate to have these amazing artisans as our partners along with Ama Amoakwa who is our wonderful Ghanaian sourcer.
